The Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme in Paris in partnership with La Maison Française at NYU present a roundtable discussion on the complex subject of humanity’s relationship with the ocean, taking an interdisciplinary and international approach. The ocean is home to 82% of terrestrial life forms, covers 71% of our planet and produces 50% of our oxygen. A veritable climate regulator, a global economic artery and the connective tissue of civilizations, it is the invisible guarantor of our survival and our global interactions. Today, this ocean is under unprecedented anthropogenic pressure, threatening not only ecological equilibrium but the very existence of the communities that live, work and survive thanks to it.
Guests at this transatlantic debate will shed new light on the complex relationship we have with this immense and, in many ways, mysterious body of water.
Event held in-person and online in English
